There’s a bit in the middle of this one that reminds me of Harold Arlen’s underscoring from Wizard of Oz.  Do you hear that?  It’s that B section – it triggers some memory of poppies and flying monkeys.  I don’t know.

This is another beautiful song.  I’ve always been interested in simple, lullaby-like songs.  How many notes does it take to move a listener?  Sometimes a lot, sometimes not.

This song (and, strangely enough, Tennessee Waltz) reminds me of hurricanes. My Dad used to play both of them for the assembled evacuees in the Fine Arts building that became one of our shelters during bigger storms. We always stayed there because that’s where Dad’s office was and we could have a bit more privacy, but Dad would go out to the auditorium area, light candles, and play for at least an hour or to of the time we were there.
