For a long time, I debated whether or not to release these recordings. I feel that music served an important part in my recovery, but, while it was important to me at the time, I wondered whether or not it was important enough in all the other ways in which something must be important in order for it to be given away and called “art.”

But when I think back to the days of my treatment, I’m reminded that the recording and release of this album was a goal I set for myself that gave me focus and strength during chemotherapy.

Which is, I think, exactly what art is. Something that helps us to continue, through whatever adversity might come. Something that gives us strength; something that gives us hope.
