My New Resume

Its time to update my resume. Since moving to NYC last year I’ve added a lot of new credits and overshadowed some others. I’m looking into options for resume layout and considering some new things.

Here’s a layout based on a strict grid.

Cool layout. Very concise. It’s almost as though the resume takes on the look of a webpage and that can only be a good thing I think. Also, I love the graph. It almost seems a little gimmicky but I think the uniqueness and mass of information it contains offsets any tinge of that. Nice!

  2. Dave,

This looks great. I am sorry that I didn’t get a chance to really follow up on our discussion regarding the skill set section. Your idea really is fantastic, and I fear that my tweets in response sounded more negative than they were meant to.

I did find your answer about interviews interesting as the MD jobs I’ve gotten all involved interviews of some sort. Granted, those interviews (like in most fields) came after a look at a résumé, but I found it interesting that your experience is so different.

I like the skill set graph in the sidebar because of its orientation. It seems easier to read to my eye than the vertical version in the layout above. Ironically, that was one suggestion I was going to make when we discussed it last week.

All in all, you’ve really got me thinking about how best to represent my skills on my own résumé, and I’m grateful for that! :)
